Collects, organizes and monitors data required by the Principal and Co-Principal Investigators. Interacts with Investigators and study participants in coordinating data collection. Verifies data with medical records. Ensures submission of data within specified timeframes. 1. Develops, compiles and analyzes reports and creates systems to ensure the collection of data. 2. Ensures completeness and accuracy of patient records as established in guidelines of each project approved by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). 3. Collects, organizes and monitors data as required. Extracts patient clinical data from medical records or other sources containing patient clinical data. Verifies all data to the patient's medical record. 4. Maintains communication with the Principal and Co-Principal Investigators to ensure accuracy of data. 5. Ensures submission of data within specified timeframes. 6. Maintains quality of data to meet statement requirements. 7. Presents patient specific issues to the Quality Management Committee for resolution of conflicts. 8. Maintains consistency and integrity of data collection. Reports concerns regarding data integrity to the Principal and Co-Principal Investigators. 9. Serves as a resource person to staff in developing and analyzing systems needed to obtain information or statistics vital to the research project. 10. Advises nurses who are delinquent in completing aspects of clinical record necessary for billing to occur.

Full Time 8-5 Days GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Biological Resources Unit (BRU) Director and in consultation with the Attending Veterinarian, develops and implements educational opportunities for researchers that provide knowledge of animal welfare regulatory requirements, species-specific care and use methods and procedures, and safe work practices. Coordinates and implements continuing education of all BRU personnel to assure quality. Provides oversight of animal use practices within the BRU to assure compliance with regulatory and institutional guidelines. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities BS in biological sciences or veterinary technician degree. At least three years experience in a similar position or three years of animal research or care experience in a research environment with thorough knowledge of government regulations and compliance issues. Prior hands-on experience with multiple species, especially rodents. Excellent communication and teaching skills are vital. Ability to identify problems and devise educational solutions, work independently and prioritize work. Computer literacy is essential. Required Length and Type of Experience Three years experience in a similar position or three years of animal research/care experience with demonstrated knowledge of compliance issues. Required Registry, Certification, or Licensure AALAS certification at the LAT level or above preferred. Required Physical and Environmental Demands Significant amount of standing, sitting and/or walking. The Manager - Epidemiologic Research Studies in the Epidemiology and Cancer Control Department under the supervision of the Department Chair works collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary healthcare and research teams. Utilize unique, advanced clinical and supervisory skills to achieve highest research goals. Collaborate with the research team to develop and implement research procedures and publish research results. Supervise management of large multidisciplinary research operations. Coordinate and supervise clinical evaluations and data collection by other members of multidisciplinary research team including CRAs, CRA-RNs, and NPs. As needed, provide care for patients both in the outpatient clinic setting and addresses both acute and chronic issues in managing disease and treatment-related complications. Collect, document and analyze patient data; collaborate in the development and implementation of treatment plans and research initiatives; coordinate patient care with ancillary clinical services; make appropriate referrals to consulting medical staff; provide follow up to referring physicians; may orient or precept students and new staff.

Requirements:

Master's Degree in clinical nursing required.
4 years of nurse practitioner and/or clinical research experience are required
1 year of supervisory/managerial experience required.

Licensure Requirements:

Must possess a current Advanced Practice Nurse License issued by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing.
Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a non-Compact Nurse Licensure state.
