Summer Intern Program for Information Assurance (SIP/IA)

Responsibilities
The Summer Intern Program for Information Assurance (SIP/IA) is open to high potential college upperclassman and graduate students with a strong focus in the disciplines of Information Assurance. Relevant academic disciplines, with a concentration in Information Assurance, include, but are not limited to: Mathematics, Biometrics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Programming, Computer Support, Data Base Administration, Computer Systems Analysis, Operations Research, Information Security (Assurance) and Business Management or Administration.

In each of the disciplines, NSA ensures the participants will encounter continual challenges and satisfying learning experiences on the cutting edge of technology. Participants will work 12 weeks during the summer following their junior year. To participate in the program, the student must return to school for at least one semester following their internship.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Prefer a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must be a college junior or have at least college junior status
- Must be eligible to be granted a security clearance
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Housing: Housing accommodations can be arranged upon request.

Travel Reimbursement: Students who attend schools in excess of 75 miles from Fort Meade, MD are eligible for a round trip airline ticket to and from school, or mileage reimbursement up to the cost of a government issued airline ticket.

Salary: Students are paid a competitive salary based on their education. In addition, you will receive sick and vacation leave, Federal holidays, and the ability to participate in Agency-wide extracurricular programs.

All positions in the National Security Agency are in the excepted service. In October 2009, NSA will transition to a pay-for-performance system utilizing a pay-band compensation structure under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS).
