Responsibilities
The National Security Agency (NSA) is currently seeking Network Engineers, Computer Scientists and Test Engineers to support the Information Assurance (IA) technology integration and testing team. As a part of this team, you will help support an unclassified test network which consists of more than 40 servers and 500 users. The team supports IA by providing technical analysis and feedback for IA technologies and products.
As a Network Administrator at NSA, you will be responsible for one or more of the following areas:
- Component Evaluation - Perform hands-on testing and analysis of network-focused security products, as well as general IA and commercial IT products and services. Must be able to develop a testing plan, implement the plan, and report findings in both written and verbal formats.
- Product Development - Ensure the availability of a suitable mix of high assurance hardware and software devices, including routers, firewalls, VPNs, and security/network management systems, critical to emerging network architectures.
- Networking Analysis - Maintain and improve networking capabilities for users by understanding the needs, current technology, and team capabilities. Maintain network security and improve operational potential, including configuring and implementing intrusion detection systems, firewalls, remote service, proxy servers, and file servers.
- Customer Support - Provide effective technical support to users and organizations. Responsibilities range from installing, configuring, and maintaining laptops and desktops to providing project management.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates should possess the following:
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- Networking or Microsoft certifications are a plus
- Demonstrable understanding of a defense-in-depth approach to IA
- Strong technical skills in IA
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and lead teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Database administration and SQL programming experience are a plus
- Project management and planning experience is a plus
- The ability to work well with others in a collaborative environment
